Daily turnover was Rs.520Mn, a drop of 27% compared to the recorded turnover of Rs.713Mn on the previous trading day. Highest contributions to the turnover came from Lanka Milk Foods (CWE) PLC, Seylan Bank PLC and John Keels Holdings PLC with Rs.80Mn, Rs.50Mn and Rs.47Mn turnover respectively.
Overall, Market was dominated by local investors with participating to 64% of the turnover. However locals were net buyers, while foreigners were net sellers of Rs.2mn worth of shares.
The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 39% of the daily turnover with four companies recording block trades during the day.
Lanka Milk Foods (CWE) PLC with a quantity worth of Rs.80Mn crossed hands at Rs.155.30 per share while on the Beverage Food & Tobacco sector Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC changed hands at Rs.892.00 per share along with a quantity of Rs.45Mn on the crossings board.
Moreover, on the Banking and Finance sector, Seylan Bank PLC crossed hands with a
quantity worth of Rs.50Mn at Rs.100.00 per share and citizens Development Business Finance PLC changed hands at Rs.110.00 per share accounting to a turnover of Rs. 29Mn.
Retail interest was upon John Keels Holdings PLC and Ceylon Leather Products PLC- Warrant with recording highest number of trades of 282 and 130 trades respectively.
Top gainers list was led by Equity two PLC with 9.36% return for the day and closed
Rs.4.70 higher at Rs.54.90. Meanwhile top decliners list was led by PC House PLC with 50.00% price deprecation and closed Rs.0.10 lower at Rs.0.10.
Weighted Averages of Treasury bills of both 91 days and 182 days maturities at the
Treasury bill auction held on 8th July 2015 came up by 3bps to 6.14% and 5bps to
6.26% respectively. Moreover, in 364 day maturity treasury bill, weighted average was flat compared with the last treasury bill auction held and was 6.28%.
