Both ASPI and S&P SL20 closed in red due to price losses in counters such as Ceylon Tobacco Company, Commercial Bank and Hatton National Bank with turnover crossing Rs 540 Mn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was witnessed in Commercial Bank nonvoting, Tokyo Cement Company nonvoting and Textured Jersey Lanka. Mixed interest was observed in Textured Jersey Lanka, Dipped Products and John Keells Holdings Warrant 22 whilst retail interest was noted in Lanka IOC, First Capital Holdings and Sierra Cables. Meanwhile, foreigners remained active closing as net buyers mainly due to foreign purchasing in Tokyo Cement Company nonvoting, Commercial Bank nonvoting and Hemas Holdings. Total foreign purchases accounted for 44.8% of turnover. During the week, the ASPI and S&P SL20 lost 1.84% and 2.26%
respectively.
