The Colombo bourse ended on a negative sentiment resulting in both indices to move lower into the red terrain. As at the day’s closure, the ASPI dropped by 22.98 points (-0.32%) to close the day at 7,261.78 and the S&P SL20 index too ended negative at 4,037.81 charting a drop of 16.01 points or 0.39%, falling back from its previous day’s closure. The total market capitalization as at the day’s closure fell to LKR 3.08Tn. The market PER and PBV were 19.56x & 2.11x respectively. Despite the overall drop in indices, several counters such as FLC Hydro Power PLC, Seylan
Bank PLC [X] and Asian Alliance Insurance PLC were a few of those which managed to reach fresh 52 week peaks at LKR 9.10/- , LKR 80/- and LKR 179.80/-. JKH also managed to gain considerable interest during the early hours following the
announcement made by the company stating that the board of directors of the company has decided to increase the shares in issue, by way of a Sub-division made in the proportion of 7:8. Following this JKH managed to reach an intraday apex of LKR 205/-, however ended the day at LKR 200/- indicating a minute gain of LKR 0.20/- or 0.10%. JKH.W22 and JKH.W23 which grabbed sizable interest whilst reaching highest levels of LKR 27/- and LKR 45.90/- within the day, closed the day slightly lower at LKR 21.80/- (down by LKR 1.20/- or 5.22%) and LKR 39.50/-
(down by LKR 1.90/- or 4.59%), resulted by the selling pressure which was prevalent on the two ‘Warrants’.

The total turnover for the day amounted LKR 1,183.78Mn, indicating a gain of 55.09% from its previously recorded. Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (COMB) which made a subscription of LKR 347.70Mn accounting to 29.37% of the day’s
total turnover, closed the day at LKR 165.10/- indicating a drop of LKR 0.10/- or 0.06%. Majority of this flowed in by way of 2 offmarket blocks which amounted to LKR 330Mn where a total of 2Mn shares were blocked at a price of LKR 165.0/-. Sampath Bank PLC (SAMP) made a subscription of LKR 105.77Mn where a total of 399K shares were dealt at prices ranging from LKR 267.20/- and LKR 268.20/-, supported by a crossing which amounted to LKR 98.88Mn.
