The Benchmark index falls once-again…

The market witnessed a slothful day adding further to the negative sentiment whilst closing within the red terrain. The continuous selling pressures by local and foreign participants have been contributing factors to the recent dip in several
fundamentally sound counters. The ASPI dropped by 29 points or -0.41% to close the day at 7,035.15, and the S&P SL20 index ended negative at 3,906.28
charting a drop of 18.05 points or 0.46%, falling back from its previous day’s closure. The total market capitalization as at the day’s closure fell to LKR
2.99Tn extending the YTD loss to 3.7%. The market PER and PBV were 17.98x & 2.00x respectively. The total turnover for the day amounted LKR 635.43Mn, indicating an increase of 12.27% from its previously recorded.

DFCC Bank PLC (DFCC) which made a subscription of LKR 100.38Mn accounting to 15.8% of the day’s total turnover, assisted the counter to contentedly secure its top slot as the prime subscriber for the day. DFCC saw a quantity of 251K shares being dealt by way of a crossing, blocked at LKR 200/-. DFCC gained considerable on-board interest as well where a total of 251K shares were dealt at prices
ranging from LKR 199.50 to LKR 205.00, before settling the day at LKR 205.00 indicating an increase of LKR 5.00 or 2.50%. National Development Bank
PLC made an addition of LKR 85.77Mn, securing the second place; most of its turnover flowing in by way of several on-board blocks.
