Navara Daily Market Insights 10th June 2015

Colombo Stock Exchange traded on a negative note with All Share Price Index closing 3.66 lower at 7,063.45, 0.05% down while S&P SL20 closed 1.44 lower to close at 3,914.41, 0.04% down.

Daily turnover was Rs.364mn, an improvement of 10% compared to previous trading day. Highest contributions to the turnover came from John Keells Holdings PLC, Sinhaputhra Finance PLC and Alufab PLC with Rs.35mn, Rs.22mn and Rs.21mn turnover respectively.

Overall, Market was dominated by local investors with participating to 74% of the turnover. However locals were net sellers, while Foreigners were net buyers of Rs.60mn worth shares.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 12% of the daily turnover. Sampath Bank PLC with a quantity worth of Rs.44mn changed hands at Rs.258.00 per share at a single trade in the crossings board.

Retail interest was upon Sinhaputhra Finance PLC and City Housing & real estate company PLC with recording highest number of trades of 594 and 459 trades respectively.

Top gainers list was led by Agalawatte Plantations PLC with 12.23% return for the day and closed Rs.2.80 higher at Rs.25.70. Meanwhile top decliners list was led by SMB Leasing PLC- Warrant with 20.00% price deprecation and closed Rs.0.10 lower at Rs.0.40.

Weighted Averages of Treasury bills of all three maturities at the Treasury bill auction held yesterday came up by 1bps to 6.08% in 91 day maturity and weighted average yield percentage per annum were flat on 182 days and 364 days maturities with rates of 6.18% and 6.29% respectively.
