Colombo Stock Exchange traded on a negative note with All Share Price Index closing 22.98 lower at 7,261.78, 0.32% down while more sensitive S&PSL20 closed 16.01 lower at 4,037.81, 0.39% down.

Market turnover crossed 1bn mark to Rs.1184mn, 55% increase from Rs.763mn recorded on the previous trading day.

Highest contributions to the turnover came from Hatton National Bank PLC, Seylan Bank PLC (Non-voting) and Hayleys PLC Rs.76mn, Rs.60mn and Rs.41mn turnover respectively.

Overall, Market was dominated by local investors with participating to 92% of the turnover. However, locals were net buyers of 371mn worth of shares while foreigners were net sellers of Rs.371mn worth of shares while the year to date net inflow stands at Rs.5.5bn.

Aggregate value of total crossings transactions amounted to Rs.429mn which was 36% of the daily turnover.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Rs.330mn worth of shares changed hands at Rs.165.00 per share while quantity worth of 99mn of Sampath Bank PLC crossed hands at Rs.265.00 per share contributing to
Rs.429mn turnover.

F L C Hydro Power PLC and Seylan Bank PLC (non-voting) attracted retail investor appetite with recording highest number of trades of 693 and 287 during the day.

Top gainers list was led by F L C Hydro Power PLC with 21.62% return for the day and closed Rs.1.60 higher at Rs.9.00. Meanwhile, top decliners list was led by Lanka Aluminium Industries PLC with 11.42% price deprecation and closed Rs.11.00 lower at Rs.85.30.
