The market witnessed a slothful day adding further to the negative sentiment whilst closing within the red terrain. The continuous selling pressures by local and foreign participants have been contributing factors to the recent dip in several fundamentally sound counters. The ASPI dropped by 35.42 points or -0.49% to close the day at 7,220.29, and the S&P SL20 index ended negative at 4,000.66 charting a drop of 34.38 points or 0.85%, falling back from its previous day’s closure. The total market capitalization as at the day’s closure fell to LKR 3.07Tn extending the YTD loss to 1.2%. The market PER and PBV were 19.47x & 2.09x respectively. The total turnover for the day amounted LKR 1,262.77Mn, indicating a dip of 8.73% from its
previously recorded. The blue-chip counters JKH & CTC drops further witnessing hefty
selling, dragging the index lower
