The first trading day of the week ended with a slight drop, causing both indices to end within the red terrain as at the day’s closure. Retail activity was evident to a certain extent and off-market interest was only on COCR during the day which recorded a crossing of LKR 55.96Mn; the on -board contribution to the turnover exceeded LKR 700Mn. The benchmark ASPI settled the day slightly lower at 7,284.76 charting a minute drop of 3.98 points or 0.05%. The S&P SL20 ended the day within the red terrain at 4,053.82, down by 13.32 points (or 0.33%). The total market capitalization amounted to LKR 3.09Tn during the day, indicating a year to date loss of 0.33%. The market PER and PBV stood at 19.62x and 2.11x respectively.

The aggregate turnover for the day which amounted to LKR 763.31Mn indicated a drop of 15.62% from its LKR 904.58Mn recorded during the previous trading day; the three prime contributors for the day COCR, AAIC & ALUF accounted a share of 22.30% of the daily aggregated turnover. Commercial Credit & Finance PLC
(COCR) stood out as the prime contributor for the day’s total turnover by providing LKR 76.26Mn, accounting to 10% of it. COCR managed to touch a fresh 52 week apex at LKR 71.90/-, before ending the day at LKR 70/- charting a gain of LKR 2.0/
- or 2.94%. Asian Alliance Insurance PLC grabbed the second place by providing LKR 59.89Mn to the daily turnover. AAIC managed to gain considerable retail interest within the day where a total of 365K shares changed hands by way of 625 trades, at prices ranging from LKR 157.10/- to LKR 174.40/- (its highest price in 52
weeks). This was subsequent to the announcement made by the company stating that the board Directors of AAIC has decided to subdivide its
ordinary shares in the ratio of 1 share into 10 subdivided oridinary shares; subject to the approval of Shareholders.
