Focus: During the day, ASPI was up by 14 points and S&P SL20 was up by 15 points. Market recorded gains in indices after five consecutive days of losses with gains were mainly seen in poultry counters (TAFL, GRAN and BFL were up by 2.53%, 3.14% and 5.37% respectively). JKH became the highest contributor to the turnover while also recording a crossing at LKR 175 and contributing total of LKR 155.6 Mn to the market turnover. TAFL also recorded a crossing for the day while total crossings represented 19% of the market turnover. Foreign investors turned net buyers with a net foreign inflow of LKR 31 Mn while foreign purchases were mainly seen in JKH and CFIN. Foreign selling was seen in TAFL. SIRA has carried out a survey in Kenya on the feasibility of a cable manufacturing plant to supply cables to East African countries and on the favorable outcome of the study a formal report has now been approved by the board for implementation in the forthcoming months.
§ Beverage Food & Tobacco sector contributed mostly to the market turnover while the sector index was up by 0.1%.
